Dave Honoured with OPC Fellowship Award
/June 25, 2021 was a proud and exciting day at Barber Prosthetics Clinic when our fearless leader, Dave Moe, was honoured with the distinction of OPC Fellow by his peers within our National Association. The title of Fellow is conferred upon Certified or Registered members who play a leading role within the profession and whose contributions have furthered the advancement of Orthotics and Prosthetics in Canada.
OPC Fellows identify themselves with the FCBC acronym beside their professional designation. They are Canadian Orthotic and Prosthetic men and women from all across the country that have been peer-elected as having demonstrated an outstanding contribution in the furtherance and promotion of the profession in a distinguished manner.
Since certifying in 1992, Dave has been an active member of our profession and its various governing bodies and has played a passionate role in promoting and advancing the field. His focus has always been on providing optimal patient centered care, as evidenced by his work towards implementing outcome measures as part of our standard practice. He has led by example as a mentor, supervisor, and instructor at BCIT and has encouraged dozens of students to practice with the same vigor and enthusiasm for the profession that he has.
Congratulations, Dave, on adding the well-deserved letters of FCBC to your name.

The following quote is from the day of presentation. Usually Fellowship awards are bestowed on the recipient(s) in person at the OPC AGM which is “normally” held at the OPC Conference every second summer. This year however, that was not the case due to Covid. The AGM was held via ZOOM (like everything else this past year and a half!) and therefore, we had a small impromptu celebration at Barber with our dozen staff members instead with hundreds of colleagues from across the country. More intimate than usual :)
“David, born in Winnipeg, has had a love and knack for Prosthetics since the age of 14. He is a 2nd generation Certified Prosthetist who gained his credential in 1992.
David has been a part-time faculty member at BCIT since 2005 in the Prosthetics and Orthotics program where he teaches the trans femoral module in the 2nd year of the program. He held the position of Government Insurance Relations Committee Chair and is the former President of CAPO. He’s certainly has had his hands full, but that’s not even the half of it!
He's been a volunteer examiner for certification exams, proctored technical exams, and was involved in negotiating the Alberta fee structure.
David was also a contributor to the Compendium of Orthotics & Prosthetics.
David is admired amongst his friends, colleagues, and patients. He is known for taking a very holistic approach to his work. He always puts patients’ success at the forefront of their care.
A self-proclaimed “prosthetic junkie”, David is always striving to better himself through his work countless hours of volunteering. He is widely known across the profession and his clinic, Barber Prosthetics, is a leading establishment within the BC landscape.
OPC is pleased today to honour David Moe with the Fellowship Award.”
Virtual clapping and many congratulatory wishes via Zoom chat, followed.
CONGRATULATIONS, DAVE!
